Navi Mumbai-based builder Raj Kandhari, who had shot himself in the head in the bedroom of his 11th floor apartment in Raj Uday society, wrote a note before dying.

Here is the translation of the last entry in his diary, which was originally written in Hindi.

Ups and downs keep coming in life and we keep learning and if our life goes straight we will die, the way a person dies when his ECG reading goes flat. The same way, there will be ups and downs in our life, and we should learn from them. To face the situation and to move forward after facing them is the right thing to do, it is our duty.

No one can ruin/destroy us. Someone might hurt us but never destroy us. We are destroyed only because of ourselves, because of our faults/flaws. If we achieve control over ourselves, rectify our faults, do our duty to the fullest of our capabilities, do our work with honesty, no one can move us from our rightful place. We need to always remember that we ourselves are responsible for the harm that comes too us.

Our ego, our jealousy is what kills us, pulls us back. We keep talking about what someone else did or said. Why do we never think about what we do or say? If we want to be someone different, we have to do something different. We should behave the same with everyone. No matter how the other person behaves, we have to be the bigger person and make them realise that we are not like them. Why should I do something wrong simply because the other person did? Why should I make a mistake and then keep repenting? Why should I keep thinking about such people and waste my time and energy?

I want to progress in life. We will keep meeting wrong people. So will we keep wasting our life and our future like this? No. We will not. Because only we can destroy ourselves.
