Five killed in Bangladesh lorry-train collision

At least five people were killed and 25 injured on Monday when a lorry rammed a passenger in Bangladesh.The victims, including one woman, were all train passengers,

According to police, the accident took place at Dhaka’s Kamalapur Railway Station’s container depot, the Daily Star reported.

Two people were killed on the spot while three others died of injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

As the 219—Narayangaj Local was moving to Dhaka, the lorry of NS Cargo Ltd. defied a signal and hit a compartment of the train, a transportation officer said. As a result, a carriage of the train got derailed.

“It appears that the driver of the lorry lost control and rammed the train with speed,” he said.
