Union Minister for Urban Development and senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday sought to play down the omission of senior party leaders L.K. Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi from the party’s parliamentary board as a natural development and said the step would pave way for the younger generations to take up the party’s reins.
“We are never going to take out the contributions of Mr. Advani and Dr. Joshi to the growth of the BJP as a leading national party. The party is now witnessing a generational shift and as veterans, they have been indeed given a greater responsibility,” Mr.Naidu said referring to the inclusion of these leaders in the Margadarshak Mandal along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On the absence of leaders from Kerala in the party’s national leadership, Mr.Naidu said the reconstitution of party leadership was still underway and one would have to wait till the end to know the final outcome.
