Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivas hauled up doctors on duty in the casualty of the Government General Hospital (GGH) after they reportedly neglected a five-year-old child bitten severely by dogs and referred it to Guntur Medical College Hospital.
The Minister who lives very close to the GGH came to the hospitals when media persons informed him that Kabela centre resident, Syam, was referred to Guntur hospital and was not treated.
The Minister got angry when the relatives of the boy told him that the doctors had not cleaned the wound or given any injection. The child had dog bit marks on the legs, hands and even on chest. The relatives said that he was attacked by more than three dogs when he went out to answer nature's call at around 7 a.m.
Mr. Srinivas asked the CMO Chandrasekhar to issue memos to the doctors on duty and see that they are placed under suspension after an inquiry.
Talking to the media he said that he would take the issue of the GGH doctors to the Chief Minister. Though financial provision had been made for Rabies vaccination it was not available. The wounds of the child were not even cleaned, he said.
