Masked men rob doctor, wife at gunpoint

Three masked persons robbed a government doctor and his wife at gunpoint at Nagarjuna Sagar here in the late hours of Thursday.

According to Macherla Circle Inspector Kailashnath, the three men gained entry into the MSR gated community located near Nagarjuna Sagar where Dr. Ram Naik resides with his wife.

After pointing a revolver at Dr. Naik and tying up his wife to a chair, the robbers made away with a gold chain, a ring and some gold ornaments all weighing 50 grams and Rs.1,500 in cash. Dr. Naik works at the Primary Health Centre in Nagarjuna Sagar and his wife is a pharmacist.

“The robbers also took away two cell phones of the doctor after threatening him with dire consequences if he informed the police,” the CI said. According to the police, a night watchman was on duty at the gated community but the three managed to sneak into the premises. It was only after the robbery, that the watchman came to know about it. There were no CCTV cameras.
