Ministers to represent Pranab on TS attitude

July 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:06 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The State Cabinet has decided to represent the problems being created by the Telangana State government headed by K. Chandrasekhar Rao in Hyderabad, the joint capital, to President Pranab Mukherjee who is camping in the city on his southern sojourn. Accordingly, a delegation of the Ministers will soon call on the President to explain him the ground-level situation in the joint capital and submit a memorandum on the difficulties it was facing on account of the confrontationist attitude of the TRS government. Ministers K. Atchannaidu and D. Umamaheswara Rao, who briefed media, however, refused to elaborate on the purpose of the meeting with the President.

Asked about whether they would seek the President’s intervention in the implementation of provisions under Section 8 of the AP Reorganisation Act, Mr. Atchannaidu said the Governor had been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring effective enforcement of the provisions under the Act. “It is for the Governor to ensure implementation of the provisions,” he said. The Cabinet, according to sources, however, decided to effectively represent the issues including the problems faced in the sharing of the Schedule 9 and 10 institutions. The decision comes in the light of the differences between the two governments related to Centre for Good Governance and other institutions.

Jagan flayed

Meanwhile, the Ministers also criticised Opposition leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy mortgaging the interests of the people by colluding with the Telangana Rashtra Samiti. Mr. Jagan, they said, was trying to hurt the sentiments of the devout by raising questions relating to pushkar ghats on which the government had spent over Rs. 100 crore for ensuring quality works.
