Goddess Sri Padmavathi Devi, in Vishwa Mohini avatar, was taken out in a colourful procession on the fifth day of the Karthika Brahmotsavams at Tiruchanur on Sunday.

Chanting Vedic hymns, priests accorded a series of rituals to the goddess including ‘Suprabhatam’, ‘Sahasranamarchana’, ‘Pallaki Utsavam’ and ‘Snapana Tirumanjanam’ before the aromatic sandal bath as part of Vasanthotsavam. Priests rendered the sloka, ‘Hiranya Varnam Harinim’ to appease the Lord of Beauty Sri Manmadha in Vasantha Kalasa.

Children, dressed up in various avatars of the goddess such as Sri Mahalakshmi, Sri Padmavathi Devi, Sri Goda Devi and Mohini, added charm to the event.

Later in the evening, ‘Unjal Seva’ was accorded to the goddess, and the deity was taken out in a procession on Gaja Vahanam along the four mada streets. Chandragiri Legislator Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy offered silk vastrams to the deity on the occasion.

TTD Executive Officer M.G. Gopal, Joint Executive Officer (Tirupati) Pola Bhaskar, ACVSO Sivakumar Reddy, Temple Special Grade Deputy EO Chenchu Lakshmi, SE III Ramachandra Reddy, former TTD Board Chairman K. Bapiraju and AEO Nagarathana were present.
