Uber driver held in Bengaluru for verbally abusing woman passenger

July 05, 2015 09:35 am | Updated 09:36 am IST - Bengaluru:

An Uber cab driver allegedly misbehaved and verbally abused a woman, who was travelling from Electronic City to Nagarbhavi on Friday night, after she took objection to the driver taking a different route.

While the driver was detained by Jnanabharathi police, he was let off with a warning after the victim refused to file a First Information Report against him. However, the driver has been suspended by the company.

The police said that Roopasri, a resident of Electronics City, had booked an Uber cab online on Friday evening to visit her mother residing in Nagarbhavi.

The alleged harassment began when driver Suresh took a different route to Nagarbhavi while the victim had asked him to take a route known to her.
