July 20, 2014 02:52 am | Updated 02:52 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu has said the Centre has no role in constitution of Legislative Council.

Addressing mediaperson here on Saturday, the Minister said the Council was a primary right of the States. Two Houses – Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha – were mandatory for Parliament.

Likewise, bicameral legislature was mandatory for the states, he said.

He said as per the Indian Constitution the Parliament may by law provide for the abolition of the Legislative Council of a state having such a Council or for the creation of such a Council in a State having no such Council.
