The TTD’s Vigilance and Security personnel on Wednesday took a youth into custody for allegedly resorting to proselytisation at the famous hill temple of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala. Preliminary investigations revealed that the youth, Ranjit Naik, was native of Anantapur and working for a local bank at one of the TTD’s laddu delivery counters. The vigilance sleuths, who on a tip off swooped in on the counters, also seized some religious books and other promotional materials. Naik was later handed over to the police who registered a case.
