A couple with suspected links with Salwa Judum, the erstwhile anti-Maoist militia, of Konta village in Chhattisgarh State were shot at and seriously injured by Maoists near Konta in Sukma District on Sunday night.
The injured couple were brought to the Government area hospital in Bhadrachalam in Khammam District of Telangana late in the night. According to sources, the injured were identified as Podium Chukkalu and his wife Podium Payaki of Konta block in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh.
The condition of Chukkalu, who sustained two bullet injuries including one in abdomen, was stated to be critical.
Sources said that the Maoists fired at the couple in Konta by branding them police informers.
