Five killed in car-truck collision between Ajmer, Jaipur

Five persons, including a child and a woman, were killed after their car allegedly collided with a speeding truck on National Highway 8 here, police said on Wednesday.

The mishap occurred late on Tuesday near Dudu when the car, carrying 5 persons, collided head-on with a speeding truck that had jumped the divider on National Highway 8 here, Kaluram, Station House Officer (Dudu) said.

The car's occupants, hailing from Maharashtra, died on the spot, he said, adding that the vehicle was on its way to Ajmer from Jaipur.

The truck driver was under the influence of alcohol when he lost control and jumped the divider, police said.

A case has been registered against the driver who has been detained, they added.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, police said.
