RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Misa Bharti found herself red-faced after claiming she had participated as a speaker at the India Conference held at the prestigious Harvard University on Sunday, a claim the university refuted.
Ms. Bharti’s name also did not figure in the list of speakers for the India Conference 2015, given at http://indiaconference

The RJD politician had posted a picture of her on Facebook, dated March 7, showing her at the podium. The picture was captioned in Hindi, “Harvard Vishwavidyalaya mein yuvaaon ki bhagidari ko lekar vyakhyaan dete hue ” (giving a lecture at Harvard University on the role of youth).
The news was also published in some local newspapers in Bihar.
Ms. Bharti then tweeted on Tuesday, two days after the event, that she had participated in the conference.
“At the #IndiaConference at Harvard University, with key speakers and panelists,” she tweeted at 12.37 p.m. on Tuesday. She even re-tweeted some pictures posted by BJP leader Kiran Bedi, who was one of the speakers at the event. The pictures, apparently clicked by Ms. Bedi from the podium, showed Ms. Bharti seated in the audience.
However, on checking with members of the team that organised the event, The Hindu found the veracity of Ms. Bharti’s claims could not be established. “Ms. Bharti was not a speaker at the India Conference at Harvard,” Chandni Sachdeva, co-chair of the conference told The Hindu .
Ms. Bharti later reportedly clarified that she never claimed to have made a speech at Harvard, adding it was incorrect reporting by an over enthusiastic correspondent.
