Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha on Sunday launched a website devoted to Nathuram Godse, the Hindutva activist who killed Mahatma Gandhi, in order to commemorate November 15, the day Godse was hanged- as 'Balidan Diwas'.

Munna Kumar Sharma, national general secretary of Hindu Mahasabha told The Hindu that It was high time that government of India should stop looking at Godse through the prism of several decades and well entrenched prism of "anti-Hindu propaganda about Godse".

According to him, Godse was the "real hero" of Independence struggle of India, and the website was just a "small homage for his contributions".

Mr. Sharma said that the website which declares Godse to be "the real forgotten hero" would serve to inform people about his "contributions" to nation building.

"We have been saying this since ages that Nathuram Godse is the actual hero who if he had his way, would never have allowed the division of our motherland. By killing Gandhi, he did a favour to us, otherwise Gandhi due to his policies of Muslim appeasement would have allowed further divisions of the country," maintained Mr. Sharma even as he made a controversial point about Gandhi's assassination.

Mr. Sharma said that the website would counter the propaganda against Godse, "the nationalist martyr" who was "ignored by Gandhi's stooge, Nehru and forgotten by even Hindu party like BJP".

"The main purpose of this website is to counter the anti-Hindu propaganda against Godse and serve as as one point resource Center for everybody who was interested in knowing about Godse," he added.

Pandit Ashok Sharma, an old time associate of the Hindutva outfit told The Hindu that "contributions" of Godse should be included in the text books of school children in the country.

Madan Acharya, senior functionary of Hindu Mahasabha said, "We are planning to send a memorandum to the President of the country and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, demanding that a chapter should be included in text books to make the future generations aware about Godse's immense contributions to today's India".

To start with Godse's book "Gandhi vadh kyun (Why did I kill Gandhi) and his brother Gopal Godse's book 'Gandhi vadh aur main (Gandhi's assassination and me)" will be available on the website www.nathuramgodse.in.

Hindu Mahasabha organised a puja on the 'Balidan Diwas' across its 120 offices in the country.
