Following yet another round of questioning on Thursday, the Central Bureau of Investigation has asked DMK leader Dayanidhi Maran to again join the investigation on Friday into the alleged installation of an illegal telephone exchange in his house during his tenure as Union Telecom Minister.

“Mr. Maran reported at the CBI headquarters around 11 a.m. and was questioned by the investigating team till 6.30 p.m. The team sought clarifications from him regarding the alleged use of 770 high-capacity BSNL lines at his three residences in Chennai and Delhi,” said an agency official.

Mr. Maran told presspersons that he was cooperating with the investigation. He said the questioning had given him an opportunity to share with the CBI the evidence collected through RTI petitions from the BSNL and the MTNL. Apprehending arrest, Mr. Maran had on Tuesday obtained anticipatory bail from the Madras High Court.
