A group of 45 pilgrims from Bengluru, Mysuru and Davanagere visiting north India and Nepal experienced anxious moments as they were stuck for sometime following the massive earthquake which rocked that country on Saturday.
However, the Bengaluru-based Karnataka Kisan Yatra Seva Sangha which organised the tour confirmed to The Hindu that they received communication from the tour manager that all the members were safe.
“The tourists had finished visiting Manakamana temple in the Gorkha district of Nepal when the earthquake struck,’’ according to Lalithamma of the Kisan Seva Yatra Sangha.
The group had left Mysuru on April 15 and after finishing the tour of north India, reached Kathmandu on Thursday. Of the 45, 20 were from Mysuru, six from Davanagere and the remaining from Bengaluru.
According to Nandish from Bogadi area here, seven from whose family has gone missing, they received a phone call around 1.30 p.m. from the stranded tourists. “Though we were told that they were safe there is anxiety because there was no further communication from them,” he added.
The tourists had visited Bhubaneshwar, Puri, Konark, Kolkata, Bodh Gaya, Kashi, Allahabad before crossing over to Nepal.
