The Hindu Aikyavedi State general secretary, Kummanam Rajashekharan, has called for a just and detailed inquiry and fact-finding on the report submitted to the Supreme Court by the Amicus Curiae, Gopal Subramaniam, in connection with the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram.

In a statement issued here on Saturday evening, Mr. Rajashekharan said that any attempt to completely avoid the ruling family of erstwhile Travancore and to entrust the temple administration with the government was highly objectionable.

According to him, a free and fair administration sans political interference, giving prominence and participation for the family, was what badly needed at the temple.

He said the devotees would strongly oppose the covert moves of certain forces to bring the temple administration and its immeasurable wealth under government control.

Action sought

He called for stern action against the culprits in connection with the irregularities in the management of the temple and its wealth as mentioned in the Amicus Curiae’s report.

The temple wealth that had been offered by devotees strictly belonged to the presiding deity. But, the government move to make it a public asset would invite far-reaching consequences, he said.
