Several MPs cutting across party lines have demanded that Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P. Nadda be relieved of his duties, pending an inquiry into a fire incident at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences over the weekend. The fire, it is learnt, has destroyed several sensitive documents.
Alleging that the fire was a “deliberate act to destroy records,” CPI(M)’s Rajya Sabha MP T.K. Rangarajan on Monday said Mr. Nadda, in his capacity as an MP between May 23, 2013 and 2014, had sought dismantling of the vigilance section of the premier institute that was probing corruption in the purchase of machinery and medicines.
