Didn’t talk politics with RSS chief: Gadkari

October 26, 2014 12:04 am | Updated November 16, 2021 07:16 pm IST - NAGPUR:

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari called on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat at the Sangh headquarters here on Saturday and held a long discussion.

The Minister, however, denied discussing Maharashtra politics.

“I come to wish Sarsanghchalak [RSS chief] on every Diwali. I have been doing it for the past 25 years. Today [Saturday] also, I came to wish him and had a long discussion with him, but most of the topics of our discussion were non-political,” Mr. Gadkari, who came riding a scooter, told presspersons.

“We discussed some political issues, but nothing related to Maharashtra politics or me. There is no need for a discussion on the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s post.”

Mr. Gadkari has denied any intention of coming back to State politics and become the Chief Minister.

State BJP president and frontrunner for the Chief Minister’s post Devendra Fadnavis visited the RSS headquarters on Friday night.

It is not clear if he met the RSS chief because the latter arrived very late on Friday night, said a close aide of Mr. Fadnavis.
