Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav on Wednesday hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party- Government at the Centre, accusing it of “selling dreams” to the people.
Mr. Yadav was the special invitee at the Samajwadi Party’s national convention which began here on Wednesday and he seized the opportunity to launch a blistering attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, albeit without naming him. He also took a dig at the “Swachh Bharat” campaign.
On the Central Government’s move to retrieve the black money stashed in foreign banks, Mr. Yadav said it should instead work towards retrieving the Rs. 10 lakh crore of the corporate houses stored in Indian banks. Referring to the move to introduce bullet trains, the Janata Dal (United ) chief said instead of bullet trains, steps should be taken to repair the rail tracks and improve the running time of trains.
‘NDA toeing UPA line’Stating that the UPA government headed by the Congress wanted foreign direct investment (FDI) in railways, defence and insurance, Mr. Yadav said now the BJP government at the Centre is working on the same lines. He likened the BJP Government and the erstwhile Congress-headed UPA Government to “saas-bahu” (mother-in-law and daughter-in-law), and asked the people to shun both.
The JD( U) president came down on the “love jihad” campaign of the BJP, accusing it of pursuing divisive policies. He said it is for the first time that an attempt is being made to divide the society on religious lines.
Lauding the contributions of Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh, whom he called his “bhai saheb [elder brother]”, Mr. Yadav cautioned the party cadres against rumour-mongering, and added that the “JD(U) will crush the BJP in Bihar”.
