The Supreme Court told the Special Investigation Team on Monday that it would consider whether Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's statement it had recorded as part of its probe into the Gujarat riots cases could be handed over to the Nanavati Commission.
A Bench of Justices D.K. Jain and Anil R. Dave conveyed this to senior counsel and amicus curiae Harish Salve.
Mr. Salve drew the court's attention to the SIT's application on the commission seeking Mr. Modi's statement recorded on the complaint of Zakia Jafri, widow of the slain Congress MP, Ehsan Jafri.
