Jawan hurt in LoC firing

A BSF jawan was injured in heavy firing between Pakistani and Indian troops in the Akhoor area of Jammu on Sunday.

Official sources said Pawan Sharma of the Border Security Force’s 122 battalion was targeted with a Sniper rifle from across the international border in the Kana Chak area. Even as he was evacuated to hospital, security forces of the two countries traded fire for several hours.

Later, an exchange of automatic gunfire and mortars took place for about two hours on the LoC in the Poonch-Rajouri belt.

According to BSF sources, it was the fourth ceasefire violation by the Pakistani troops in the last 48 hours. They said that as many as 61 ceasefire violations had taken place from the Pakistan side on the border till date in 2013.
