Privilege motion against Meena

July 23, 2014 02:10 am | Updated 02:10 am IST - JAIPUR:

A Bharatiya Janata Party, MLA on Tuesday moved a breach of privilege motion against Kirori Lal Meena for allegedly threatening him.

The BJP legislator, Om Prakash Hudla, moved the motion against the National People's Party (NPP) leader during the Zero Hour. Accepting the motion, Speaker Kailash Meghwal forwarded it to the Privileges Committee directing it to submit it’s report before the House on the first day of the next session.

Mr Meena and Mr Hudla had on Monday entered into a heated argument during which the former reportedly threatened the latter. The argument broke out when Mr Hudla reportedly accused Mr Meena of shielding criminals.

Mr Meena, who was not in the House when the motion was moved, will have to present himself before the Privileges Committee, if summoned. The Committee has the powers to recommend serious punishment if the charges are found true.
