The bickering in the TNCC escalated on Tuesday with AICC member and son of the former Union Minister, P. Chidambaram, Karti Chidambaram, questioning the authority of TNCC chief E.V.K.S Elangovan in issuing show-cause notice to him.
Replying to Mr. Elangovan’s notice that was issued last week, he said the ‘G67’ meeting he organised was a meeting of friends and not a party affair. The party flag and symbols were not used. Had Mr. Elangovan listened to his speech and understood his opinion, it would have been clear that he did not speak anything against the Congress leadership or the party’s ideology. Further, being an AICC member, he could face action initiated only by the central leadership. If Mr. Elangovan forwarded the charges against him to the central disciplinary committee and if a response was sought, he would provide the answers.
Mr. Elangovan said he had informed the AICC about the matter and would take action once he received Mr. Karti ’s reply.
