Kodavasal receives 12 cm rain

The wet spell continued in many parts of the State on Monday, with coastal districts receiving a good amount of rainfall. Kodavasal in Tiruvarur district received the highest of 12 cm, while Mayiladuthurai of Nagapattinam, Kattumannarkoil of Cuddalore and Tiruchendur of Tuticorin received 11 cm each.

A trough of low pressure, which extended from the coast of Sri Lanka to Tamil Nadu, was now lying over Sri Lanka and adjoining coastal parts of the State. The rain would be fairly widespread, said S.R. Ramanan, Director of the Area Cyclone Warning Centre, here. It was expected to taper off on Tuesday.
