TMC launch gains momentum after rain stops in Tiruchi

Heavy rains that lashed Tiruchi since Friday morning stopped temporarily in the evening much to the relief of former Union Minister G.K. Vasan and his supporters who are in the City to relaunch Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC).

The Ponmali Railway Ground where the event is to take place has turned muddy and slippery and partymen are covering the area with dry sand. Thousands of chairs placed on the open ground are waiting for the partymen who are trickling in. Senior leaders on the dais are overseeing the arrangements.

When compared to the mega DMK meeting held here in February, the relaunch looks like a low-key affair, even though life-size cutouts of Mr. G.K. Vasan along with kingmaker Kamaraj and his father G.K. Moopanar adorn the City.

Heavy police protection have been provided for the event.
