In a tragic incident, a four-year-old boy died after a tablet, which he swallowed got stuck in his throat choking him to death in Yellendu town in the small hours of Friday.

The deceased has been identified as G Pradeep, 4, of a construction labourer’s family of municipal ward-I locality in the coal town.

According to sources, Pradeep, suffering from fever, was administered a tablet by his mother in the wee hours of the day.

The tablet reportedly got stuck in the throat of the boy and blocked his respiratory tract, resulting in his instant death, sources added.

The tablet was actually meant for the ailing elder sister of the boy.

Although a syrup prescribed by a local doctor was available at their home, the mother of the boy reportedly preferred tablet to syrup.

Heartrending scenes were witnessed at the house of the deceased as the latter’s parents broke down inconsolably over the tragic death of their beloved son.
