Telcos slash call rates for Nepal earthquake

Indian telecom companies have announced special call rates for aiding in the relief and rescue work involving the devastating earthquake in Nepal.

While Bharti Airtel has offered calls made to Nepal free of cost on its network till April 27, 2015 midnight, Tata Docomo has announced calls at one paise a second till April 28.

Aircel has offered free calls to Nepal for all its customers till 28th April 2015.

"Additionally, those customers travelling to Nepal during this hour of crisis will also get free incoming while roaming into Nepal for the next 48 hours" Aircel said.

Aircel has also waived off International Roaming Rental Deduction for its prepaid customers," Aircel added.

Idea Cellular and Vodafone India have offered call rates at Re 1 per minute to Nepal as compared to Rs 12 per minute charged under normal circumstances.   

While Idea's offer is valid till the morning of April 28, Vodafone customers can avail this facility till 10 am on April 28, 2015.
