UPSC allows scribes for visually challenged

Visually challenged candidates and those with locomotor disability and cerebral palsy can use scribes to write the Civil Services preliminary and main examinations, the Union Public Service Commission has said.

Such candidates will get additional time of 20 minutes per hour to complete the examination. Only those with a minimum of 40 per cent disability will be allowed to take the help of a scribe, a notification said.

Those appearing in Indian Forest Service examination too can use a scribe and get the additional time for each paper of three-hour duration.
