November 25, 2012 01:40 am | Updated November 17, 2021 04:01 am IST - MUMBAI:

The Maharashtra State Commission for Women has issued notice to the Thane district rural police calling for a detailed report and documents of the police complaint filed against two women for posting comments on Facebook.

Takes note of complaint

The Commission has taken a note of a complaint filed by former IAS officer and advocate Abha Singh for the alleged violation of human rights and contempt of the order of the Supreme Court.

“The Commission on late Thursday asked the superintendent of Thane rural police to submit a report. It has also asked the documents of the complaint filed in this case,” said Ms. Singh.

She alleged that the arrest of women at night was prohibited by the order of the Supreme Court and hence contempt of court had been committed.
