The Book In My Hand
Rajendra Mal Lodha, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India | I am reading Max Lerner’s Nine Scorpions in a Bottle, which is about nine judges, their judgements, individual styles, and dealings with the Executive. I have read about a 100-odd pages. I am fascinated by how these judges shaped and evolved public opinion, their arguments, and the conclusions. The book offers a view of how jurisprudence evolved, and was shaped, in the U.S. by these judges. |
Gautham Menon, film director and producer | I last read Man and Boy by Tony Parsons. I am a sucker for father-son stories. In this novel, a woman leaves her husband when he has a one-night stand, and he is unwittingly thrown into a situation where he has to take care of his six-year-old all by himself. The book explains how the father and son hit it off. I simply loved it. Did I mention that I love father-son stories? I am completely hooked to James Ellroy’s American Tabloid right now. Ellroy is the best crime writer I know. I’d like to read Mario Puzo’s Godfather again. I’ve read it several times but I like picking out pages and reading them again. It inspires me and helps me take a script forward. |
