Delhi Daredevils plans to approach the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) with an aim to give each player the freedom to express himself forcefully.

With the appointment of South African all-rounder J-P. Duminy as captain of the team, DD has given Yuvraj Singh the space to concentrate on his game. The team management wants Yuvraj to be the match-winner that he is. This precisely was the reason for Duminy being asked to lead the side.

According to DD mentor T.A. Sekar, Duminy is, “a very good student of the game. He has vast experience of playing in the IPL since 2009. Duminy is highly respected and has been a part of the leadership group of the South African team. He is a very balanced cricketer who doesn’t show emotions.”

Duminy has been an integral part of the National team. He was recently asked to lead the South African T20 squad.

“I’m grateful for the support and belief from the franchisee. I hope we will be able to turn around the fortunes of ,” Duminy said.

Head coach Gary Kirsten noted, “JP is the right choice to lead the team. He has the necessary experience and demeanour to take the team forward. I have seen him progress and mature as a player and leader.”

Welcoming Duminy’s appoinment, DD CEO Hemant Dua said, “He has the necessary credentials and his track record is a proof of his experience.”
