IPL: RCB rout RR with 9-wicket win

Mitchell Starc, Harshal Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal stifled the Royals batsmen with regular wickets

Chasing a low target of 131, Bangalore lost the sole wicket of Chris Gayle, who got a start. The world-class pair of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers ensured that they coasted home with 3.5 overs to spare and brought their team back to winning ways after a few losses.

None of the Rajasthan Royals bowlers looked threatening and they didn't have the runs to defend either.

In a professional display of bowling, Royal Challengers Bangalore stifled Rajasthan Royals down to 130/9 in 20 overs.

Rajasthan got a start from their openers Shane Watson and Ajinkya Rahane but once they departed, they just kept losing wickets regularly and could not sustain any momentum.

Steve Smith tried his best to hold the innings together but he too succumbed to the pressure.

Mitchell Starc was the pick of the bowlers and found good support from the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshal Patel.

The wicket was a bit spongy and slow but Rajasthan would certainly consider themselves at least 20 runs short.

Coming in at the start of the game, these two sides were in contrasting positions at this point of time. While Rajasthan had only lost one game so far that too in a super over, Bangalore had only managed one win with time running out for them.

Watson - "It's expected to be a challenge as we know what they are capable of. Whatever we do first, we need to do it well. It's been a good tournament for us and hopefully that continues. We have one change with Kulkarni coming in for Tewatia."

Kohli - "It's time to turn things around as there isn't much time left in the tournament. We are looking to field first as this pitch won't change much and we are confident to chase down whatever score we get them to. Gayle is back for us in place of Rossouw."
