Kenya cricket team to tour Pakistan next month

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that Kenya national team will visit Lahore next month to play five One-Day matches against the national A team.

The PCB said that the tour was part of a movement by the Board to convince foreign teams to tour Pakistan for revival of international cricket in Pakistan suspended since March, 2009 after militants attacked the Sri Lankan team in Lahore.

“All the matches will be played at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore after the Kenyan team reaches Lahore on December 11,” a PCB official said.

“The matches will be played on December 13, 15, 16, 18 and 20,” he said.

The matches would be of 45 overs an innings format due to the weather conditions in Lahore in December.

Since the attack on the Sri Lankans only Afghanistan has twice toured Pakistan while all other teams have refused due to security concerns.

The Ireland team was due to visit Pakistan in September this year but called off the tour after terrorists attacked the old Karachi airport terminal building.

The Board official said that some other countries had also agreed to send their junior and second string teams to Pakistan.
