The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said the team’s chief selector Moin Khan will not return to the World Cup, and has apologised for going to a casino in New Zealand.

Casinos and gambling are banned in Pakistan, and criticism of Khan for going to one on Feb. 19 in Christchurch went all the way to parliament.

PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan said he accepted the selector’s explanation that he only dined at the casino with his wife and two friends.

Shaharyar Khan said he didn’t receive any reports contrary to Khan’s claims, and therefore “the matter is now closed, but he will not go back [to the World Cup].”
