A winless Sporting Clube de Goa faces a herculean task when it plays a confident Bengaluru FC (BFC) on Tuesday, with the two teams on either side of I-League spectrum.
BFC (17 points) sits in second spot, while Sporting Clube, with five draws and five losses, lies at the bottom.
The home side will, no doubt, look to close the gap on table-topper Mohun Bagan (21 points) with a victory here.
Recent form — victories over Salgaocar (I-League) and Singapore’s Warriors FC (AFC Cup) — only emphasises its status as favourite.
Sporting Clube striker Anthony Wolfe, however, believes that his side is quite capable of causing an upset.
“We are not scared of Bengaluru. I believe that any side in the I-League can win on its day. If we get an early chance, we must convert.
“This will frustrate BFC; we will get the edge,” the Trinidadian said.
Wolfe pointed to the visitor’s recent form — a hardly intimidating two draws — as a sign of good times to come.
