Materazzi all praise for crowd

Chennayin FC’s player-manager Marco Materazzi was happy with his side’s victory over Kerala Blasters on Tuesday.

He, however, sidestepped a question on a controversial penalty awarded to his side. “What do you think? Maybe you watched it on TV and you know better. I was quite far away from the incident but it looked like a penalty to me,” he told a journalist who queried him on the matter.

He was full of praise for the Chennai crowd. “They did a lot for us and we put our hearts on the pitch.”

Earlier, David James, the player-manager of Kerala Blasters, rued the fact that his team hogged possession but failed to convert them. “We need to be sharper and convert our chances after having the bulk of the opportunities. We need to work on our killer instincts in the box.” He also lauded Bernard Mendy’s goal. “That’s probably the goal of the month. There is very little you can do about such goals.”
