Swedish central midfielder Pierre Tillman, who was recently released by Chennaiyin FC, has sent a legal notice to the club, its CEO and co-owners Vita Dani and Abhishek Bachchan. The 27-year-old has accused the club of failing to respect its contractual obligations and non-payment of dues, amounting to around $50,000.
Tillman has also forwarded the notice to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the Indian Super League (ISL) organisers, seeking their help in the matter.
“We have received a letter from Mr. Tillman and I have forwarded it to the right authority to verify the matter. We will check his contract and other details and decide on the future course,” AIFF secretary Kushal Das told The Hindu .
Tillman had joined the team during its preseason training camp in Bangalore and played in the preparatory friendly against the Army Green in the garden city and was touted to partner fellow Swede Bojan Djordjic in central midfield.
The player, however, was sent back to Chennai from Goa, ahead of Chennaiyin’s first match against FC Goa on October 15.
Since then, the team management has terminated his contract, citing “breach of multiple contractual terms”.
A team official had earlier told The Hindu that “there were a few contractual breaches from Tillman’s side and we are trying to handle the issue in a humane way.”
