Batra rejects SAI allegations

August 28, 2014 12:32 am | Updated 12:32 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Hockey India (HI) Secretary General N.K. Batra has rejected the Sports Authority of India (SAI)’s allegations against HI.

At a press conference here on Wednesday, SAI Director-General Jiji Thomson had questioned why HI was not holding its camps at Shillaru, which was situated in high altitude, and sticking to Delhi.

Batra said HI had sent its junior women’s team to that centre, but the senior teams could not train there due to lack of various facilities.

“Kindly think in terms of improving the facilities and do not go to the press all the time to show HI down,” said Batra.

HI was forced to conduct National camps in Delhi because of the lack of proper facilities in other parts of the country, he said.

Batra alleged that no hockey infrastructure of the SAI had been improved in the last two years.
