Nineteen-year-old Ch. Jignas of Services entered the men’s compound final of the Sahara senior National archery championship at the Anna University ground here on Sunday. Jignas overcame a tough challenge from Kawalpreet Singh of Punjab 145-140.
In the other semifinal, Paltan Hansda of Railways upset the defending champion Rajat Chauhan of Rajasthan 140-139.
Anjali Kumari of Bihar will clash with Manipur’s P. Lily Chanu in the women’s compound summit clash. Anjali edged out Gitanjali Laishram (Manipur) 137-134 while Lily piped Renu Munda of Bihar 135-134.
Earlier, the Jharkhand pair of Laxmirani Majhi and Pawan Xalxo (143) clinched the recurve mixed doubles Olympic round gold. Pawan, along with Deepika Kumari, had won the title in the last edition in Jamshedpur. The brother-sister duo of Rahul and Dola Banerjee emerged second with 141 points.
The compound mixed doubles gold was won by Manjudha Soy and Paltan Hansda of Railways with a score of 146. P. Lily Chanu and Sh. Ramakant Sharma of Manipur finished second with 142 points.
