Indian Junior Open squash from August 23

Kush Kumar, bronze medallist in the junior world championship held in Namibia recently, will be the star attraction in the u-19 section.

The Rs. five lakh Indian Junior Open (IJO) will be held at the Indian Squash Academy here from August 23 to 27.

With over 500 entries (503 to be precise), the current edition has set a record.

Last year only 320 entries were received.

The IJO is an SRFI, Asian junior super series and World junior circuit event with competitions in five age categories (boys and girls): under-11, under-13, under-15, under-17 and under-19. 

In all, there are 343 boys’ and 160 girls’ entries.

The participants will receive WSF ranking points (under-19), ASF points (all categories) and SRFI ranking points (four star).

Players from Malaysia, Singapore, USA, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Nepal and Bahrain will take part.

Matches will be held on eight courts, four of which have been re-done in view of the World University Games squash event which is to be held after the IJO.
