K. Balarama Das, Deputy Chairman of Madras Race Club, passed away here on Thursday. He was 77 years old. He is survived by wife K. Sumithra and three sons — K. Vishnumohan Das, Balamukunda Das (Member of Committee of Management of MRC) and K. Lakshminarayana Das.
Balarama Das had been in racing for more than four decades as an owner of many famous horses such as Fire Heaven, Rock Heaven, Young Turk, Young Arab and Fire Flash. He was also one of the partners of Dasaprakash Group of Hotels.
