The $10,000 ITF men's futures tennis tournament will be held here from April 16 to 21.

The tournament, being organised by the Tiruchi District Tennis Association (TDTA) at the Union Club, will feature singles and doubles events. The qualifying rounds for the singles event will be held on April 14 and 15.

“Tiruchi will be hosting an ITF tournament for the first time. It is a big honour as the city will find a place in the world map of tennis,” said K. Neethi, president, TDTA.

He said that the players ranked between 200 and 1000 in the world will take part in the event. The field will include Indian players V.M. Ranjeet, Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, and Sriram Balaji.

Neethi is hopeful of fans turning up in large numbers. “There will be no entry fee. The TDTA will leave no stone unturned to make the event a grand success,” he added.
