Ho, an upset for Vishnu Vardhan

Indian Davis Cupper Vishnu Vardhan’s dipping form did not help his cause as the second seed was soundly thrashed by unseeded Chinese Taipei player Chih-Jen Ho 6-4, 6-0 in the pre-quarterfinal round of the ITF Futures at the Jaidip Mukerjea Tennis Academy here on Wednesday.

Vardhan, who struggled to get past Arpit Sharma in the first round, found Oh in roaring form.

The Indian committed many unforced errors and the Taipei player, with a ranking of 1148, was too good on the court.

Top seed N. Sriram Balaji, stretched by his compatriot Chandril Sood, won 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

Seeded pairs moved into the semifinals with ease the top seeded pair of Sriram Balaji and V.M. Ranjeeth playing Sasi Mukund and Akash Wagh in one semifinals and second seed Vardhan and Prashanth taking on the lone foreign pair of Descotte and Ho in the other semifinals.
