April 17, 2015 01:56 am | Updated 01:56 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Mihika Yadav earned a semifinal berth in the Asian junior tennis championship with a 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory over Mayuka Aikawa of Japan at the DLTA Complex here on Thursday.

Mihika was joined in the semifinals by second seed Y. Pranjala, who dismissed Nidhi Surapaneni for the loss of five games.

Mihika will be up against top seed Wushuang Zheng — who looked vulnerable in her three-set win over her fellow Chinese Ye Xin Ma — and the 16-year-old Pranjala faces Thailand’s Bunyawi Thamchaiwat whom she had beaten in three sets in the final of the grade-3 ITF junior tournament in Chandigarh last year.

Pranjala and Wushuang cruised past Shuyue Ma and Xiyu Wang to make the doubles final.
