Seventh-seeded Ramkumar Ramanathan was beaten 6-4, 6-7(4), 7-6(1) by wild card entrant Gregoire Barrere of France in the pre-quarterfinals of the €35,000 Challenger tennis tournament in La Possession, Reunion Island, on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old Indian collected €600 and six ATP points.

Meanwhile, in doubles pre-quarterfinals, fourth-seeded Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Enrique Lopez-Perez of Spain entered the last eight.

The duo cruised past Frantz Jessin and Valentin Poterlot of France 6-1, 6-1.

Sathwika in two quarterfinals Sama Sathwika of India defeated Hei Ching of Hong Kong 6-2, 6-2 to enter the girls’ singles quarterfinal of the ITF Junior Grade V tennis tournament at Singapore.

Later in doubles, Sathwika and V. Thanushree beat Ting Linda and Roslan Nabila of Malaysia 6-3, 0-6, 11-9 to reach the last eight stage.
