Bisht stretches Vinayak

May 27, 2015 12:21 am | Updated 12:21 am IST - Mysuru:

Seventh seed Kaza Vinayak Sharma had to play his best tennis to get the better of a fighting Ronit Singh Bisht 6-4, 6-7(7), 7-6(3) and enter the second round in the Sobha ITF $10,000 Mysuru Open tennis tournament played at the Infosys campus tennis courts here on Tuesday. While Vinayak claimed the first set easily, the second saw an even contest with both players holding serve till the tie-breaker where Vinayak capitalised on his rival’s unforced errors to race to a big 6-3 lead.

However, Bisht fought back with some excellent cross-court returns and passing shots to level at 6-6 and ultimately take the set with a down-the-line forehand winner.

The reverse seemed to knock out Vinayak’s rhythm as the third set too went to the tie-breaker. But the seventh seed shrugged off his indifferent form to clinch the match.

Top seed Ramkumar Ramnathan had an easy passage to the second round with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Aditya Deswal. Mandya-leg winner and second seed Karunuday Singh, third-seed V.M. Ranjeet and eighth seed P. Vishnu Vardhan won their respective matches to enter second round.
