Unmukt and Rayudu appointed captains

Unmukt Chand will lead India ‘A’ in the upcoming tri-series against Australia ‘A’ and South Africa ‘A’ which will be held from August 5 to 14 in Chennai.

Ambati Rayudu was named skipper for the two unofficial ‘Tests’ which will follow against South Africa ‘A’ in Wayanad from August 18.

Karun Nair is deputy

Karnataka’s Karun Nair was announced as the vice-captain for both the tri-series as well as the unofficial ‘Tests.’

Leg-spinner Karn Sharma, who made his Test debut in Australia recently, and has been in the city for the past two days as part of his rehab following a fractured finger, has found a spot in both squads.

But Robin Uthappa and Manoj Tiwary, who played in all the ODIs against Zimbabwe, were not picked.

Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Amit Mishra, K.L. Rahul and Varun Aaron who were part of the squad for the unofficial ‘Tests’ against Australia will be travelling to Sri Lanka for the Test series beginning on August 12 and have thus not been named.

Tri-series: Unmukt Chand (C), Mayank Agarwal, Manish Pandey, Karun Nair (vice capt), Kedar Jadhav, Sanju Samson, Axar Patel, Parvez Rasool, Karn Sharma, Dhawal Kulkarni, Sandeep Sharma, Rush Kalaria, Mandeep Singh, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Rishi Dhawan.

Tests: Ambati Rayudu (C), Karun Nair (vice capt), Abhinav Mukund, Ankush Bains, Shreyas Iyer, Baba Aparajith, Vijay Shankar, Jayant Yadav, Axar Patel, Karn Sharma, Abhimanyu Mithun, Shradul Thakur, Ishwar Pandey, Sheldon Jackson, Jiwanjot Singh.
